Inaugurated in 1949, the Cineteca Nazionale safeguards a legacy of more than 60,000 copies of films, both silent and talking, including an important collection of Italian – made films as well as titles that have made a significant contribution to the history of cinema at international levels. The Cineteca is extremely active when it comes to promoting films too – some 1500 showings of Italian and foreign films each year in its “Cinema Trevi” where classic and contemporary films are both on the agenda.
