Considered in 2006 by the Wall Street Journal as one of the four major festivals in Europe, Romaeuropa Festival presents since 1984 the best of contemporary artistic creation and boasts an eclectic audience, as eclectic as the cultural offer that breaks down barriers between "high" and "mass" culture in the name of exchange, union and relationship between different cultures, expressions and technological challenges. The Teatro Olimpico is the result of a collective action to safeguard a place of culture, existing since the end of the 1930s, and which Rome was losing. Today the theatre is a permanent venue for Philharmonic concerts, but also a full-time theatre with its programme and its loyal audience.
